NHIS REGISTRATION AND DATA COLLECTION EXERCISE FOR PWDS

On 4th June, 2022, the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development under the Gomoa District Assembly, embarked on  a four day National Health Insurance Registration exercise  for PWDs. Prior to the exercise, field officers in the Unit, engaged Opinion Leaders and made general announcement through mega phones in the various communities about the upcoming exercise. The activity began at exactly 10:15am prompt each day from 1st-4th June, 2022 where Participants were conveyed with commercial vehicle to the forecourt of the Social Welfare Office at Gomoa Afransi.

The four day activity captured and enrolled a total number of Two hundred and Six (216) participants for both New registration, Renewals and Replacement of lost cards. 

OBSERVATIONS AND FINDINGS   

  • It was observed that majority of the PWDs participants were excited about the exercise.
  • It was observed that, majority of the participants were not enrolled on the scheme .
  • It was found that because most of them were not enrolled on the scheme they were unable to access health care

To conclude, it was recommended that a second phase of the exercise be initiated to enroll other PWDS who were not able to enroll during the exercise.
